Frequently Asked Questions. 

How can I get Entry Pass?
  1. Entry Passes will be issued at Ticket Counters from 10:00AM to 04:30PM.
  2. Entry is free.
  3. One person can be issued Entry Pass for a maximum of 10 persons.
  4. Entry Passes are available at two Ticket Counters, one at entry point from Gurdwara Qila Anandgarh Sahib and other at the entry point from parking of Virasat-e-Khalsa.
Do I need to deposit ID card for getting Entry Pass ?

ID Card is required to b shown while getting Entry Pass.

For availing the facility of Audio-Guide, ID Card is required to be deposited at the issuing station.

Does my Entry Pass include admission to all exhibitions and galleries?

Entry Pass includes general admission to the galleries of the museum. To visit specially ticketed exhibitions, additional charges may apply. Some popular exhibitions require timed-tickets to manage crowd capacities, which must be redeemed for entrance at the time assigned as you enter the Virasat-e-Khalsa.

Where can we shop and dine?

Cafeteria is situated below the connecting bridge in Virasat-e-Khalsa where the visitors can have tea, coffee, cold drinks, snacks and breakfast & lunch.

Additionally there are two kiosks, one at the Parking and other at Ticket Booth near Qila Anandgarh. 

There is also a Museum Shop adjacent to Entrance Foyer where one can purchase books,  artefacts, traditional & cultural items, statues, photographs etc. 

Can I bring my backpack/large bag into the galleries?

No. Large bags and backpacks are not permitted in the exhibitions and galleries for security reasons and for the safety of our very fragile and irreplaceable artefacts. You may leave bags free of charge at the Cloak Room, located at the Entrance Foyer.

May I take photographs or videos?

Photography or video recording is NOT permitted inside the galleries. Photography of exterior of Virasat-e-Khalsa building is permitted.

Can I hire museum's Amphitheatre or Auditorium ?

When is the best time to visit?
  1. The museum facilitates school groups during the mornings. Our experience has been that afternoon and mid-week are quiet times to visit. If you are visiting with your family then enjoy any day any time.
  2. Virasat-e-Khalsa is open 6 days a week. It remains is closed on Mondays. Aart from that it remains closed on following days of the year.

    • 2nd  Oct (Gandhi Jayanti)
    • Diwali
    • Dussehra
  3. 24th to 31st Jan & 24th to 31st July (for Half Yearly Maintenance Shut-Down). 
  4. Museum Hours - 10:00 AM to 04:30 PM.
How do I arrange a visit for a group?

The accompanying teachers/lecturers of school and college groups should possess ID proof. Other groups can get entry by Entry Pass. 

Is the museum accessible to people with disabilities?

Yes, the museum has wheelchairs for use by differently abled persons free-of-charge.

Does Virasat-e-Khalsa have a parking space for visitors?

Yes, Virasat-e-Khalsa have a parking space for visitors.

Where is the best place to stay?

There are several hotels in and around the town. There are also Gurudwara sarais (inns) and a Mandi Board owned Kisan Haveli in the town.
