Hours of Operation


The timings of opening/closing of Virasat-e-Khalsa are 10:00AM to 6:00PM and the last ticketing entry will be made at 4.30PM.

The scholars intending to study and see the museum for full day have to pay a nominal charges of paid pass of Rs 100/- each. 

The Museum will remain close every Monday. Entry is free. Visitors are requested to enter museum as per scheduled time indicated on the pass.

In the interest of safety and security for visitors and regulating staff, following practices are observed at the Virasat-e-Khalsa.


Please do not bring large bags or parcels with you while visiting the Museum. In the event that you do have bags or parcels, please note the following:

All bags entering or leaving the Museum are subject to inspection by Security staff.

Visitors must ensure that they do not carry backpacks, bags, parcels, or purses etc., exceeding 16" x 12" x 6" in size. All oversized items must be kept in the cloak room after the Security check.

Purses are permitted in the Museum, provided they do not exceed the size limitations for oversized bags.

During special exhibition/programs, additional restrictions will have to be followed.

Visitors are encouraged not to bring musical instruments to the Museum. Instruments may not enter the galleries, and must be checked at the Security Check, subject to space availability.

Please leave your valuables at home.

The Museum reserves the right to omit/add/amend the above restrictions without notice.

Tips for Families

Small bags containing only baby needs can be permitted into the Museum.

Backpack style child carriers are not permitted for safety reasons.

Please do not carry children on your shoulders. Some areas of the Museum have low ceilings.

Museum Conduct

All persons entering the Virasat-e-Khalsa are subject to live video surveillance.

Visitors are requested to refrain from shouting, running and showing rowdy behaviour inside the museum.

Please turn your cell phone to the switch off mode.

In order to control insects or pests which flourish on the food articles and pose risks to the collections on display, food of every type is disallowed in the Museum galleries. However, food services are available in the Cafeteria.

Touching objects on display is not permitted. Even mild touching will cause damage to artefacts and valuable installations.

The Museum is a strictly tobacco free building. Visitors are not even allowed to carry any tobacco products in their bags or pockets.

For lost and found articles, please approach any Visitor Services Assistant or security guard.

Security staff can intercept any possible security threats arising from the visitors, crowd or any other elements.

The following items are not permitted in the Museum at any time:

Paints and aerosols

Liquor, tobacco or tobacco products;

Indelible markers.

Ammunition/weapon of every type.

Any item prohibited under the Criminal Code of India

Any item deemed inappropriate or objectionable.
